If this question is still relevant to you, I recently learned that you don’t need a meter for pH. You can use pH strips. This method gives a general idea of soil pH but isn’t as precise as a lab test. For better accuracy, repeat the test with samples from different areas of your soil. Here’s how:

What You’ll Need:

• pH test strips (wide-range strips are best, around pH 4–9)
• Distilled water (avoids interference from tap water)
• A clean container (glass or plastic)
• A spoon or stick for stirring
• A coffee filter or fine sieve (optional, for clearer liquid)

Steps:

1. Collect Soil – Take a small sample from about 3–6 inches deep in your garden or field. Use soil from multiple spots for a more accurate reading.
2. Prepare the Slurry – Mix 1 part soil with 5 parts distilled water in your container. Stir well and let it sit for about 15–30 minutes to allow the pH to stabilize.
3. Filter (Optional) – If the water is very cloudy, pour it through a coffee filter or fine sieve to get a clearer solution.
4. Dip the pH Strip – Place a pH strip into the liquid for the recommended time (usually a few seconds).
5. Compare the Color – Match the strip’s color to the pH chart provided with your strips.

Interpret Results:

• pH 6.5–7.5 → Neutral (ideal for most plants)
• Below 6.5 → Acidic (common in forested or high-rainfall areas)
• Above 7.5 → Alkaline (common in dry, arid soils)

In making OHN molds will be killed off with the alcohol …i would think its ok to scrape off the mold and continue the OHN process as the amount of alcohol that will go into it should kill off any spores that are present …if we where just making a FPJ then i would not use it and just discard it into the compost pile

as for adding more sugar next time it might work out better to add a sugar cap to ensure that all plant materiel is under the sugar and not exposed …iv found in my area that the sugar cap helps to get a better extraction and prevent bad juju from moving into my ferments

if you are looking to make a FPJ/Food and wondering what you can use look around your area and see what weeds grow the best and fastest, that will be the best for you to use …any non poisonous or non harmful plant can be used to make KNF Food and even better if the plant is edible …can use the same plants if making a JLF

Ah yes great idea about the sugar cap. Thanks! I scooped off the top layer and went ahead, that’s the last of the amendments for the maintenance spray almost done and the results so far have been great this autumn, can’t wait to see how it goes in my garden and on a bigger scale in spring! About to go spray now before sunrise 🙂

OHN is made by volume and can be made in any size vessel, dry herbs are added to 1/10 the volume of the vessel then filled to 1/2 the vessel with beer let set for 2 days to rehydrate, brown sugar is then added to 2/3 the volume and left for 5 days to ferment, garlic and ginger is made like a FPJ and fill 2/3 the volume of the vessel and ferment for 5 days also, the last 1/3 is then filled with liquor ….so depending on the size of vessel you use determines how much OHN you have, i used 32oz jars to make my OHN and in the end had 3gal of OHN to use    Note: by using smaller vessels we need to buy less liquor for the end process

I would start your father out with KNF Protectors, the recipe that captures lactobacilli, which makes a lactic acid bacteria serum. I trust this will help the acid reflux for sure. (Lactobacillus is vitally important for the health of humans, and all land mammals of earth.) It is fairly easy to make and is far better than consuming any industrial probiotic off the shelf. A special note, skip the sugar supersaturation step and just keep the whey in the fridge, that way you aren’t adding more food (sugar) for cancer. Consume several ounces with every meal or add to liquid diet treatment. You can’t really drink too much of the stuff…. This solution should be considered a supportive remedy for the immune system, not itself a cancer cure!

Ideal IMO spa temp ranges between 120 and 130º Fahrenheit. Because the IMO pile cultures in a weeks time it is best to have the treatment daily for a long as tolerated (usually 30 mins max). Then make sure to cool the pile down real well so it doesn’t stay at 120-130º F!  When you aren’t facilitating a spa, keep the temperature of the pile between 100 & 115 F.

I take KNF Structure daily, which is a water soluble form of calcium phosphate, because I know I’ve been insufficient in this nutrient for a long time. it helps my teeth and will hopefully help me get and stay pregnant, according to Master Cho. it’s an ancient remedy for morning sickness in plants and animals, humans included.

KNF Fuel is great for growing teeth/bones and tissue as it is full of amino acids and fat soluble vitamin D and A.

KNF Reproduction is a pure calcium supplement, also water soluble so very quickly absorbed into the system!

KNF Food can be used to extract the medicinal properties of any plant, making it predigested so readily absorbable. skip the extra sugar and keep it in the fridge to reduce sugar consumption. always consume in equal parts with KNF Cleanser to balance the pH!

KNF Cleanser I would definitely recommend those battling cancer, as it changed the pH of the body towards alkaline. Take 1 teaspoon before each meal. I take it almost every day. It is great for balancing microbes inside and out, and getting rid yeast infections of ANY KIND. In general it helps cleanse the body and make the uptake of nutrients easier, aiding digestion.

KNF Medicine is great for the immune system, reproductive health, and digestive health. You can take it as you would a “bitter” several minutes before you eat food to start the digestive process in the stomach. I knew one woman who took it after she had accidentally consumed poison mushrooms and she believed it saved her life. It would probably be good for your father to take at least 1 teaspoon a day. If anyone is sick with cold or flu taking a 1 teaspoon every hour will help fight it.
